Bantam Blue Finalists in Kawartha Lakes
Submitted By Aaron Walsh on Monday, September 23, 2019
The Bantam Blue team headed to Peterborough this past weekend to play in the Kawartha Lakes Tournament.

Off to a rough start by dropping the opener 5-2 to Garden City, Coach Lourenco rallied the team asking them to play as hard as they could and to stick to the game plan. Clearly his words worked as the Cougars went on to 3 game sweep wining, 3-2 over Ottawa, 2-1 over host Peterborough and 2-1 over Toronto Royals securing first place in there division and a trip to the semi finals.

The Semi's were a hard fought battle versus a tough Oshawa General team, and the game ended in a 1-1 tie. Overtime solved nothing so a shootout was needed. Lourencos squad scored twice and Oshawa did not earning them a trip to the finals.

Cougars faced off against Humber Valley. Action was fast an furious with a tie game after 1. Unfortunately, the Cougars ran into some penalty problems and Humber capitalized on those opportunities and went on to a 4-1 victory.

Congratulations to Coach Lourenco and his staff and all the players on a great tournament weekend, and their finalist finish!
