JR Raiders Offering Free Evaluation Skates & More Ice to ALL Teams
Submitted By Kristen Cleary on Monday, September 21, 2020
To Jr Raiders  families and players

The COVID-19 pandemic has created an unprecedented period of uncertainty. This brings up many unforeseen issues and the need to adapt whenever possible. Since we launched the Jr. Raiders program a few weeks ago, we are actively seeking your feedback and have spoken with hundreds of Jr. Raiders families and our Coaches. We are striving to create the best possible hockey experience for our kids. This Season so far we have done our best to modify the program to address issues that have been brought to our attention, and today’s email is meant to tackle what still remains top of mind for many of our families…

We run our program at the Wave Twin Rinks and Wave Sports Center, ice is guaranteed.

Here is what we CURRENTLY offer to our Jr. Raiders families:

1.       We offer a GUARANTEED schedule for the year   We do not rely on an outside ice permits.  There will be set days and locations for practices, training, and games.

2.       Your team will be the ONLY team on the ice during practices and training sessions. There will not be any shared ice time or doubling up with other teams.

Here is what MORE we can do for our Jr. Raiders families:

1.       NEW… Added additional hours of practice time per team over the season. We have listened to our families and removed the time for off-ice training (TWIST & Skating Lab) to accommodate more time on ice

a.       U8-11, (5) additional full ice practices

b.       U12-U18 (10) additional full ice practices

(Optional packages will be made available from our building partners at preferred pricing).

2.       NEW… We have added mini-pad sessions for the year, for small group training (shooting, stickhandling, small area games, etc..).

a.       U8-U11 (7) Mini Pad sessions, approximately 1 per month

b.      U12-U18 (14) Mini Pad sessions, approximately 2 per month

Evaluation Skates- Why? We know we made the team. Why register?

We set up the evaluation skates as per our understanding of Alliance and the OHF Return to Play guidelines, the evaluations are skates are MANDATORY.  Coaches need to evaluate players and assign them to specific cohorts based on caliber.  Teams may not remain the same from the 2019-2020 rosters. Jr Raider players need to attend the skates to ensure proper placement.

NEW…we are offering our MANDATORY evaluation skates for FREE. Please note you will need to register for the skates BEFORE Wednesday September 23, 2020 at 9pm to take advantage of this offer.  If you have previously registered for evaluation skates or (Pre COVID tryouts), we will deduct the payment from your first installment.

As always it is our goal to offer the kids the best hockey program possible.
